Swansea Counselling Service is a not-for-profit organisation led by
Volunteer counsellors who are registered with BACP or NCPS.
Counselling sessions are available to people 18 years + who live in Swansea and are on low income/welfare benefits (criteria apply).
SCS provides a quality support service for those who might otherwise struggle to afford
counselling with private practitioners.
Swansea Counselling Service supports student counsellors gaining their hours of practice; clients may be allocated to a student counsellor.
Clients are expected to contribute a donation for each session, which will be discussed
upon initial contact with their counsellor.
SCS is a non-profit-making organisation. Our counsellors provide therapy on a voluntary basis and receive no payment for their time or expenses. We are dependent on the financial contribution our clients make towards their counselling, which is in the form of a donation. All donations will go towards the rental cost of the rooms, telephone expenses, and supervision. Donations are received prior, or during a session in cash or by bank transfer (BACS).
The required donation per session is a low rate, and for clients who have limited income. For example, if you are unemployed, a student, retired, or are working and are receiving certain benefits, such as Universal Credit, Working Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit, Housing Benefit, or Pension Credit.
We offer our service to anyone who lives in Swansea and is 18 years or older, regardless of outlook, religious persuasion, nationality, or sexual orientation.
Individuals may refer themselves and can contact SCS for an appointment. After an initial referral, one of our counsellors will contact you to arrange a suitable time. Sessions last for 50 minutes and take place in our counselling centre in Swansea (or by other means such as telephone or online), usually every week.

Experienced and Specialist Trained with various focuses for therapy, including
Accumulative Trauma and PTSD * Abuse * Autism * ASD and ADHD Clinical Specialist
BAME Community specialism *Prison related support * Anxiety * Depression * Grief * PTSD
Gender Identity *Behaviour Disorders * Self-Harm * Anorexia * Domestic Violence
I can provide therapy sessions working with Trauma specifically or alongside other life matters, which often blend together with anxiety or conditions of low mood, depression, currently being experienced or presenting from the past, with clients who have experienced Accumulative Trauma, Abuse, or PTSD. I also offer specialist experience of working with the BAME community,
Trauma is a unique individual experience that can be caused by a single life event or a series of enduring conditions which can leave us feeling unsafe in our world with a constant threat to life, body, sanity and integrity. Traumatic events can result in the inability to stay present, to make sense of what's happening, to integrate the experience or understand that it's over.
Unless trauma is processed, it can result in anxiety, depression, PTSD, and lead to problematic ways of coping, such as addiction or self-injury in an attempt to cope with life, numb feelings, and help us survive. Sharing your story takes great courage. To have someone listen to you and witness your traumatic experience can be both powerful and empowering. Integrating this with focusing on bodily feelings, incorporating grounding techniques, and applying mindful attention can help you process and adapt, allowing you to leave the traumatic experience in the past.
I have 20 years’ experience of working in a Specialist Educational provision, supporting Children and Young People with Social, Emotional and Behavioural difficulties who have suffered Trauma and Abuse.
I have worked with many Children and Young People who have Autism, ASD, and ADHD as a Specialist and endeavour to provide a creative and very much tailored way of working with individuals. I have also had the privilege of supporting friends and family members of young men held in Prison.
I have walked alongside the most wonderful and brave clients with differing issues, some involving Anxiety, Depression, Grief, PTSD, Gender Identity, Behaviour Disorders, Self-Harm, Anorexia and Domestic Violence.
Each time I meet a new client, I am humbled by their courage and commitment to improving their life. I provide talking therapy very much tailored to meet your needs, offering a warm, non-judgmental, safe space for you to talk through and explore experiences that only you truly understand.
If you are feeling lost and alone, or troubled by past experiences that continually seem to weigh you down, allow me to walk alongside you and share your individual experiences.
Together, we will try to make sense of them, helping you to feel unburdened and freer in your life ahead.

Hello, I am Christine. I am an experienced facilitator and personal development coach.
My work is informed by Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP), Parts Work, Systemic Family Systems Constellations, and Non-Violent Communication (NVC).
My experience includes helping people with feelings of anxiety when facing significant life changes, including Menopause, Redundancy and Relationship Endings, Difficult Issues at Work, Work Life Balance, Relationship Issues, Weight Loss, Chronic Indecision, Creating New Habits and Increasing Confidence.
When you work with me, we will explore your issue, and how you are thinking about your issue, where you are putting your attention and perhaps what you are not seeing. This work can loosen up those areas of your life where you feel stuck, and it can bring unhelpful beliefs and assumptions into your conscious awareness. When these shifts happen, new possibilities emerge, and you will be supported to make positive changes.
My coaching is aimed at helping you experience yourself and your world in more helpful ways. NLP is very much about resourcing you to find the answers within yourself.
Systemic Family Constellations looks beyond you as an individual and offers a systemic view, placing you and your issue within the broader context of your birth family, current family, or your work organization. The issue you are grappling with may be systemic rather than personal, and it may therefore require a systemic resolution.
My Systemic and NLP coaching includes working somatically with your embodied experiences. I am trauma-informed and understand the importance of a well-regulated nervous system.
I am an NLP Master Practitioner and Certified Trainer. I studied NLP with John Seymour in Bristol and have also trained with Judith De Lozier, one of the early founders of NLP.
I am a Professional Member of the Association of NLP (ANLP).
All ANLP members must meet the following requirements:
Qualifications: All members’ qualifications and certificates have been checked and verified by ANLP staff.
References: All members provide external references from either previous clients or supervisors to validate previous work that they have done.
Code of Ethics: All members sign up to and adhere to our Code of Ethics, which states that they will practice NLP in a responsible, ethical, and congruent way.
Complaints Procedure: All members are accountable via the ANLP independent Complaints Procedure, in the unlikely event that an issue should arise.
I trained as a Systemic Family Systems Constellations Facilitator with the Centre for Systemic Constellations (CSC), based in London and Bristol. The CSC was formed in collaboration with Bert Hellinger the founder of Systemic Constellations work.
